Yes, but there will be a few steps required which differ from Tap’s standard upgrade process because Cloudflare will mask your IP address:
From your Cloudflare DNS settings you will see a cloud, this will allow you to temporarily turn Clouflare off. We need you to do this so Tap can see your domains real A record IP address before it allows the upgrade to complete.
Click “Check Again” from the dashboard after a few minutes, once Tap has confirmed that your A record has been updated with the IP address specified, you will be able to finish the upgrade.
Once your upgrade is complete you can turn Cloudflare back on.
Tap Tip: We recommend using the Full SSL (Strict) setting with Cloudflare.
To create a new Tap site, go to the ‘My Sites’ section within your Dashboard. Click the ‘Add New Site’ button, you’ll then be taken to a new page titled ‘Add Site’. Upgrading a site allows you to use a custom domain name with your Tap site, lets you use SFTP to transfer files to and from the server and provides more local disk space. We call upgraded sites ‘Tap Pro Sites’.
Go to the ‘My Sites’ page within your Tap Dashboard. Here you will see all of the sites you have created with Tap. To upgrade a site click the Blue ‘Upgrade’ button on the site you wish to upgrade, a dropdown window will appear asking for your custom domain name. To proceed enter your custom domain and click next. Then enter your payment details and click ‘Submit Payment’. Tap will then give you an IP address to change your domain name’s A record to. This can be done in the DNS zone editor of the website you used to purchase your domain name. Once you have changed the A records of your custom domain, ask Tap to ‘check again’ from the same upgrade dropdown. If the A record has been changed correctly you can click ‘Finish Upgrade’ to complete the upgrade and change your site to your custom domain.
Yes, you can. Our free sites are designed to act as staging servers which can then be put live when you are ready. Simply upgrade to a Tap Pro site when you’re ready to launch it on a custom domain name.
We’re working on a more automated migration process, however, in the meantime we’re happy to perform migrations for you free of charge. All you need to do is sign up to Tap, create a free site and then upgrade it. Follow the process and change your A record for the domain you want to use. Please also send a copy of your existing database in sql format and a zip file of your site’s wp-content folder to hello@thisistap.com.
To use SFTP you need to become a Tap Pro user by upgrading your site. Once upgraded, the next step will be to go to ‘My Account’ > ‘SFTP’ to set your password.
SSL
Secure Sockets Layer (commonly dubbed SSL) is a layer of protection which helps keep data private when it’s sent between a browser and a web server.
HTTPS

Free Tap Sites

Tap Pro Sites
When you upgrade to a Tap Pro site for $5.00 per month, SSL will be installed automatically using Let’s Encrypt at no extra charge. You can read more about this here.
